I’ve been using the Sony a6000 for a couple of weeks and I get what several photographers have been saying and blogging about. This camera has fast auto-focus and locks on amazingly quickly. The Sony moving-subject tracking system is unique and amazing. When you lock on a subject, the focus point follows the subject as they move through the frame – when they move to the left, it follows them, if they move to the right it is right there with them. Very cool.
I’ve been using the Sony a600 and the FE 70-200/4 G OSS zoom lens for sports. I realize a lot of photojournalists want a 2.8 lens and 300mm to shoot sports. However, I’ve found this combination is pretty good and with the crop factor on the a6000, works out to be a 105-300 zoom. Oh, did I forget to say the a6000 shoots at 11 frames per second? Simply amazing.
Yes, I was a F/2.8 snob, but the f/4 is fine with the great looking images Sony produces at higher ISO’s. Quite honestly, it is great to be able to not have to carry a heavy DSLR and long lens. Sure, I’d love to have a full frame Sony’s FE lenses) 300mm for the Sony A7. It would be a 450mm on the a6000 – killer lens. Are you listening Sony?
